Type Locality and Naming

The type section is at Beitongqigou (gully), Dasuihe Township, Yongji, Jilin. It was named by Liu Fa et al. in 1975.


Lithology and Thickness

Sandstone. Consists mainly of gray and gray-yellow fine-grained sandstone, siltstone and green-gray to light-gray medium−fine-grained sandstone, siltstone and siliceous siltstone intercalated with tuffaceous fine-grained sandstone, about 212 m thick.

Fossils

Lower part yields a large number of brachiopods Fusella biplicatus, F. louisianensis, F. cf. taidonensis, Brachythyris pecularis, B. chouteauensis, Syringothyris cf. halli, S. cf. hannibolensis, Cyrtospirifer sp., Tylothyris cf. transversa, T. subcircularis, Schizophoria cf. chouteauensis, Eumetia vereuilliana, Retzia jilinensis, Camarotoechia biplex, etc. as well as trilobites, bivalves, bryozoans, etc.
